HSR.health and AWS to pilot test Amazon Nova for healthcare AI
Pilot to determine if Amazon Nova foundation model can meet the unique demands of health-focused generative AI through fine-tuning and collaboration.
HSR.health, a pioneer in geospatial health risk prediction, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a pilot project testing the performance, process, and pricing of fine-tuning the newly announced Amazon Nova foundation model for advanced health risk prediction.
The pilot is designed to assess whether the Amazon Nova base model can support HSR.health’s innovative health applications—or if customized fine-tuning is required to meet the precision, bias reduction, and hallucination mitigation needed in clinical and public health settings.
“We’re excited to collaborate with AWS on this important step forward for health-focused generative AI,” said Ajay K Gupta, CEO of HSR.health. “This pilot will help determine how Amazon Nova can best support health use cases—where accuracy, transparency, and contextual awareness aren’t just preferred, they’re required.”
The pilot is being conducted in close coordination with AWS’s technical teams to ensure broad relevance and provide feedback that could shape Amazon Nova’s evolution—particularly for a sensitive, high-impact domain like healthcare.
Key goals of the pilot include:
- Evaluating the accuracy, efficiency, and cost of fine-tuning the Amazon Nova foundation model for HSR.health’s health risk prediction models
- Determining whether the fine-tuned Amazon Nova foundation model outperforms the base model in clinical, operational, and emergency response scenarios
- Informing AWS’s development of an Amazon Nova health foundation model tailored to the unique demands of health AI
- Delivering real-world performance data to guide broader commercialization strategies and deployment pathways
This collaboration also advances HSR.health’s mission to provide accurate, interpretable, and bias-free AI tools for decision-makers across government, healthcare, public health, and industry, delivered through its patented GeoMD Platform and Anna, the world’s first health-focused generative AI orchestrator.
“Essentially, AWS is saying, ‘We like Anna—and we want to ensure Amazon Nova can power what Anna delivers,’” said Ram Peruvemba, MD, FASA, HSR.health Chief Medical Officer. “This pilot is a critical step in making that possible.”
