Zuplo - Helping to Modernize Backend Solutions for Startups
What do you like best about the product?
Zuplo greatly improves our ability to prototype API contracts. It's also a wonderful tool for generating documentation, thanks to which we can expand and build on faster. Our API deployment is simplified with GitOps. If you need to spin up new environments, it is extremely easy and fast to do with Zuplo. All of the key features and built-in tools that Zuplo provides for our startup improves our agility and helps us iterate and deliver on a bigger and much faster scale.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, the pricing structure is reasonable and has great value, however with increase of usage the cost does go up and accumulate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the problems we faced as a rather small startup was figuring out backend infrustructure and APIs, along with comprehensive documentation and ability to deploy quickly. Some features, like authentication and caching took a long time and great effort to implement with a small team. Having Zuplo streamlined and accelerated this whole process. It has a very easy to use and intuitive UI, and we found no problem onboarding. Now we can resolve these and many more issues faster and implement scalable backend solutions, saving us time so we can focus on other objectives and company goals.

Fast, Developer Friendly, Ultra Supportive API Partners
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easily Zuplo fits into a development cycle. There are included dev environments for each user and branch. They use Typescript functions as Policies (steps) in the request flow. They integrate directly with Github/VCS and facilitate PRs.
The natural "programmable" nature of it makes it easy to integrate Zuplo into any dev team and partner with developers to own it rather than have operations people do it. There are plenty of clean integrations that keep the same exepierience.
Finally, the onboarding and ongoing support we receive is phenomenal. Nate, Josh and team are responsive, thoughtful and energetic about fixing issues and making new features.
We Implemented a new product in about a month and migrated an existing product in about 2 weeks.

What do you dislike about the product?
We had some bumps in the road with bugs early on and a couple of small outages. But these were resolved quickly and within SLA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zuplo is helping us deliver an API to market faster with less to maintain. It's let us get products delivered during a company rebrand in half the time so we could spend more time testing our ideas and putting them in front of customers instead of maintaining proxy infrastructure. We don't want to own code managing rate limiting, authentication, metering, dev portal, etc. We just wanted our developers making and improving product features. This helped us get to market responsibly and quickly.
Excellent Feature Set + Extensive Functionality + Constant Updates and Improvements!
What do you like best about the product?
I like their dev centric approach and overall UI/UX. Their dedication to constantly improving the product is also a huge plus!
The feature set is extensive and none of the promised features are vaporware. The founder is very much involved in making the product better and listening to feedback (read: good customer support)
Going from zero to POC took little effort and the documentation is pretty good.

What do you dislike about the product?
Lambda integration could be further streamline + the platform could benefit from some more granular permissions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They offer API management, throttling, gateway, etc. all in one place at a very reasonable price. It is easy to intergrate version control and involve other team members. Plus, there is lambda integration, fairly granular permissions, and auto api documentation.
Better than Azure Api Management
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is a lot better than other solutions I have tried.
Their support is really good and will respond and fix issues within 1-2 days.
Feature rich you can do what you want with it even use it for some serverless tasks.

What do you dislike about the product?
The working copy workflow takes a bit of time to get used to.
The local development does not reflect the web based experience only allowing you to edit routes but not policies keep in mind it's still in early stages.

Great Product With Cutting Edge Technologies
What do you like best about the product?
Love that it was all driven by code and it was super simple to get onboarded onto the api gateway. It utilises edge technology and is the best on the market if you're running a multi region product.
The support from the team is great and even as a new product has all features you could need to launch an api product.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is a great product with very few downsides. It has everything ready to use out of the box, a local dev environment was the last thing missing and I believe even that's been shipped.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is changing the landscape from complex monolitih gateways in a single region to a multi region, highly distributed, highly available saas offering.
Up and running super quickly, responsive support, great feature set, modern design and architecture.
What do you like best about the product?
I was building our API and needed a solution for API key management, rate limiting, and hosted documentation. Zuplo checked all the boxes and I was up and running in minutes, super easy to get it all working.
Since then, the team has been extremely helpful as we've grown and had questions about the platform, both via email and Discord. Zuplo's team culture shines through as they are accountable for fixes and clear in communication and show strong ownership over any issues we have, large and small.
The built-in policies have helped secure our API, and the edge-first design has offered great performance and responsiveness. We're looking forward to using more of the OpenAPI support in future.

What do you dislike about the product?
We're still feeling out which pricing tier is right for a team at our size. We'd like more seats as the team grows to allow managing through the Zuplo Portal, but we're not sure we're ready for the enterprise tier.
We have a strong opinion about how we'd like to onboard our API developers and we've had to customize the onboarding flow to enforce acceptance of our terms and conditions and acceptable use policy. I'd love to see Zuplo offer more out of the box support for custom signup steps and more consistent onboarding, but admittedly this is a limitation with Auth0 as much as them.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to enforce our acceptable use policy for our API with Zuplo's rate limiting and API key management. We're also able to lean heavily on Zuplo's edge network to adapt our requests to custom needs. Lastly we're able to host our documentation using Zuplo's off the shelf dev portal which has saved us hours of custom development time.
Phenomenal Tool & Company
What do you like best about the product?
Makes API Development fluid and exhilarating.
What do you dislike about the product?
That other people get to use it. I want all of the advantages and benefits for myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zuplo solves the headaches of connecting various systems seamlessly and provides the ability to build robust, full-blown processes that can be interacted with flawlessly in a highly-intuitive manner. The outcome is quite magical.
Fast, Secure, Developer-Focused, and Fully-Managed!
What do you like best about the product?
Awesome product and a really talented team! I just love how the product is developer-focused (Great documentation, simplicity of deployments, access to a lot of default policies, etc). with super fast edge deployments. They also encourage really good CI/CD practices which has been super helpful in enforcing governance and standards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, there is not much to dislike about Zuplo. Sometimes, we found a feature we needed that was not available. We raised a feature request which Josh and the team were really quick to turn around and get implemented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The pace of development and deployment of APIs to the edge while ensuring quality and best practices.
Quick, Easy, and Flexible
What do you like best about the product?
Zuplo has been quick and easy to get started with and maintain. The inherent flexibility helps to address any customizations we need. Customer support has been thoughtful and quick as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few areas of the web portal could use some features and improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified API Gateway
Rate Limiting

API Gateways made simple
What do you like best about the product?
Zuplo's setup is simple, their interface is friendly, and their support is rapid. It allowed us to set up our API platform in minutes & handle scaling, and whenever we have asked for support or a new feature, they have been fast and responsive with their timelines and implementation. Given that I use it almost every day, it's very important to have that interpersonal connection be strong when I run into issues. In particular, Josh, their CEO, is extremely responsive and on top of his messages, which we really appreciate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zuplo is a relatively new platform, so there are often feature requests to be made. For example, when we started using Zuplo, they didn't have a local development setup, and while they prioritized it when we asked for it, it would've been nice to have from the start. The other issue is that they tightly control which packages can be installed on their gateway, which can make integration challenging at times. For example, we weren't able to get tus-js support on the gateway, which leads to sometimes unreliable uploads of files to supabase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zuplo solved our problem of creating and hosting an API for a company with no prior knowledge or experience with creating or hosting API gateways. Having their expertise and platform has sped up development of a fully featured API significantly.
