Takes Some Time to Get used To, But Once You Do, It's Irreplaceable.

  • August 23, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface for Asana is really best feature as far as I am concerned. Each tab/clickable object is clearly labeled and in a logical place, which is especially helpful when training people that are first time users of project management software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few features that take some time getting used to when you are first getting started. For example, it may sound simple but I learned the hard way that pressing enter in the comment section would post the comment, rather than skip to the next paragraph. This was a minor inconvenience that was akin to hitting send too early on a text or email, but nonetheless, it was frustrating until I figured out how to change it in the settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At my place of business, virtually every project has shared responsibilities between departments and teams. So Asana has been an extremely valuable tool in keeping track of who is doing what, and when internal deadlines are approaching. The number of emails and check-in conversations this tool has replaced is worth the cost alone.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is becoming a very competitive space but I am confident in saying that Asana is a quality project management tool that would be a great fit for virtually any industry. The price point, at least for a company of my size, is fair and comparable to the competition. I really like the user interface and they have invested a significant amount of time and resources making the experience enjoyable and easy on the eyes.

Could not live without Asana! Best Project Management & Team Communication Software

  • August 22, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana helps organize communications, projects, and client work all in one-place. The dedicated workspaces are extremely useful when separating projects and keeping track of individual tasks with due dates, notes, comments and files. I love how easy it is to use on all my devices and the UX is easy to understand and follow.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel the mobile device app could be more robust. I wish I could delete my comments or files I upload to a task via mobile. I have to log-in to the desktop version to fully utilize all of Asana's capabilities. Another thing is that Asana's pricing is a bit confusing and could be a turn off to future clients who don't understand the free version vs the paid benefits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team communication and tracking projects. I am able to get a quick overview of our existing and future projects by organizing it all in Asana. The benefits of using Asana is the ability to give better estimates on when projects can be completed versus being inundated with emails, Asana fixes that!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Hands down, you should try Asana over any other project management tools out there! It was created by former Facebook employees and they know what they are doing!

Excellent, Light-Weight PM Software

  • August 16, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its UI and look and feel are great and intuitive and provides several options for visualizing projects and development. Team member controls are also great. Overall, it's a fantastic software product at a great price.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have super-detailed functionality that some other PM software's have, such sub-sub-tasks and multi-tiered task dependencies, etc., as well as a handful of other bells and whistles. That being said, most of that would be overkill for most small to mid-size businesses. Unless your business size or process require a high level of complexity for project management, Asana should give you what you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has made it possible for us to streamline all of our production processes and projects, greatly increasing our efficiency as an organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just give it a trial and feel it out. Consider leveraging some of its functionality in unconventional ways.

Light Asana user

  • August 16, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I work with numerous small teams on fast moving projects. Asana is very intuitive tool for new users, keeps us organized, and can scale as our project scale, so it's a great asset to my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more visualization of how tasks map out over time. We have to use other tools to see how projects across sub-categories intersect and affect our capacity, even though all the data is in Asana we don't have a way to line it up and compare.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary value add of Asana to my work is coordinating small teams on focussed projects. Often we bring in people who have never used Asana before, but they figure it out quickly and it integrates smoothly into all the tech we already use (email, mobile, desktop) to keep us all accountable for our deliverables.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure your scaling plan and resources fit with Asana's offering. There is a cap on the number of free users and the premium version is quite expensive.

Great Email Replacement for Task Management

  • August 15, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the modern, intuitive interface. It's incredibly easy to use and setup, so there's basically no implementation. I do enjoy the templates offered, or the ability to create your own templates. It's pretty, easy, and fairly inexpensive. As cheesy as this sounds, it's actually kind of fun and pretty to work inside of asana... which makes you want to use it more often.
What do you dislike about the product?
There could be a bit more robust functionality, but for marketing project management... it gets the job done. I would like more functionality around subtasks, I think the organization and labeling of subtasks is lacking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management for marketing. It's great as replacing email for managing various tasks.

Simplified Task and Project Management

  • August 14, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simple and intuitive interface is its strongest feature. I love the flexibility within the task creation functions and the ability to create custom fields. While we mainly use Asana for projects it is an equally effective meeting agenda tool and the fact that you can assign a task to multiple agendas (projects) helps to ensure that items are discussed with all relevant parties while cutting down on email.
What do you dislike about the product?
I appreciate the simplicity, but a more robust feature set around document creation and management as well as built-in time tracking would be very helpful. The current method of attaching files to projects is not well organized and creates version control issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to execute projects faster while delivering better results (isn't everybody). Asana helps us accomplish this by providing a detailed dashboard via google sheets that easily identifies projects at risk of "getting stuck" so we can better prioritize resources and stay on track. Creating regular operational routines to provide updates via the project progress communication feature has greatly helped stakeholders stay connected to projects while minimizing the need to coordinate status meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you give your teams time to adopt certain features on their own schedule. Start simply and slowly with minimal regulation or standardization. Be available and enthusiastic to provide support and don't be afraid to test different approaches before determining what practices are truly "leading".

Decent Project Managment System

  • August 14, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has worked pretty well for our company and applying the Scrum/Agile method. The team dashboard allows you to see what stage a project is in making it easier for Project Managers to keep track of progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
Just from past systems I have used, it would be nice to at least be able to set up a project that say once a copywriter has completed the copy and checked off the task, I am then notified to begin the next step of the project. Right now, it's heavy on having the PM come in and then create a task and assign accordingly. Causes a little bit of inefficiencies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping to stay organized with using Scrum/Agile. Very visual based.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your research and figure out what the best project management system is for your company.

Project Management -Light

  • August 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how light and easy Asana is to for non PM's on our teams to use. We have other PM software we use for more extensive PM work, that entails extensive collaboration and resource tracking but Asana fills the gap between Slack and those platforms. Its a light, easy to use platform to gather early stage info for projects that will soon live in other PM tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its hard to say what I don't like given we're not trying to 'replace' our other platforms, so I don't want to fault it for something it's not trying to be for 'my' teams. In general, better templates -for those PM newbies, and clearer definitions for due dates, on sub task. Permissions control could be nice for lighter teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Platform to fill the gap between Slack and our robust PM platform, as mentioned above things would lost in the cracks between on the fly conversations in Slack about possible project XYZ, because certain (non PM's) wouldn't want to create a project on our main platform while gather requirements,.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't expect Asana to replace a robust PM platform, but for light 'Task' style PM its the best in it's class, hands down.

Good tool but a little confusing

  • August 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The general layout and ability to drag items into different locations on the screen is very nice. The ability to assign tasks, projects and how all the information, emails, documents, etc is associated with the item is great. Email alerts are handy as usual and it has a nice look and feel
What do you dislike about the product?
The related tasks and projects can cause a bit of sprawl and become challenging to manage. If I am a member of a task, and not the one it is assigned to, I get a lot of unwanted messages. Would be nice to be able to turn that down or off.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team has a very fluid schedule and this helps us keep up to date on assignments, who is going where and update the status on projects as they progress through the different departments. Asana is a pretty good way to keep our small corner of the business organized and all of us on the same page. We are able to keep track of locations and progress from a single dashboard
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a good team management tool . It has nice add-ins for Outlook, Apple, and Google. Well worth the look

Asana's Versatility and Structure Keeps Us Organized

  • August 10, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Admittedly, Asana was not my first choice in task management, but the recent updates and iterations to the platform have really helped myself and my team streamline our projects. It helps to see what kind of tasks we have outstanding and definitely gives us a boost in dopamine when we check off finished tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface, while vastly improved from a few years ago, is still not as highly intuitive for some people. I can see how other people would become disgruntled using Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping our business tasks in one place -- it has helped us keep our projects organized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Watch their tutorial videos and ask other more avid Asana users how they use their Asana platform.
