Work well after a long migration and adjustment.
What do you like best about the product?
A single application for submitting and tracking, technical requests, and changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to copy previous records to use as a template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teams are able to look up each other's technical records and collaborate within them if needed. We were also able to reassign tasks and work requests in progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Poll the people who use the software you will be replacing. Make sure that Maximo does at least everything the old software used to do, or it could cause a major slow-down in productivity.
Maximo

Elephant in the room
What do you like best about the product?
Maximo can be configured to do most anything. Inventory management, scheduling, work orders, transportation, preventative maintenance for any size corporation that needs asset management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maximo is so all-encompassing that there is no focus on any particular field. The software can be configured to meet any requirements but this will require an in-house Maximo guru or a contract with an outside company. It can be programmed to anything you need if you have the necessary staffing or funds to outsource.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Work order processing, preventative maintenance scheduling, transportation module, repair history, lifetime costs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a very expensive investment for most any company. An in-house Maximo guru is extremely valuable to maintain software issues, develop reports, configure to user needs, etc. Outside assistance is very costly, IBM assistance is almost non-existent to a private organization.
IBM Maximo at its maximum performance.
What do you like best about the product?
Maximo Asset Management by IBM combines asset management with maintenance management. From a single system, companies can monitor and manage the complete lifecycle of their enterprise assets, including facilities, communications, transportation, production, infrastructure, and more. This centralized functionality ensures that users have visibility and control over active conditions and processes, while increasing productivity and reducing downtime.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maximo is a "all inclusive" software that can be used for whatever your business needs are; flexible enough to adapt to your company; and meets industry best practices to help establish process standards. Maximo UI is very easily configurable to provide a look that suits your needs and allows your legacy process workflow to be automated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When looking at software of this nature, consider having all your processes and related data in a single database. There will always be some integration necessary, however, consider Maximo as an ERP system that can manage most, if not all, of your needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think that the establishment in France is a good thing. Maximo can be very complex during initial implementations and some upgrades.
Complex system with lots of customization, but performance is sub-par
What do you like best about the product?
Customization: Data sets and usage can be customized to all ends.
Web app interface for our asset dictionary and software dictionary is clean and organized. Great setup for managing life cycle of various components within our systems.
**We use this system in relation to a few other IBM systems, Maximo being a fundamental piece.

What do you dislike about the product?
Performance. The scope of our use of Maximo is vast - many hundreds of users, and hundreds on hundreds of data sets for anything you can think. We also have scripting engines tied into some of the details to help automate some of our processes. With that said, one would hope the system would continue to function in a speedy manner. In peak times, we see a degradation in speed that can be frustrating at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asset management, asset dictionary, software dictionary and availability, knowledge management. This allows us to track deployment of various hardware pieces, and to plan for timely upgrades when appropriate. This definitely aids in our asset life cycle for our computers.
It is also a tool we use to manage our software dictionary and track/update software titles when appropriate.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure you use the tool to its potential. There are so many sets of data you can customize and pull. Which in itself can cause issues if your users are not properly trained. Ensure they know how to use the system to provide proper data for whatever you want to capture/track, etc.
A comprehensive management for all the company's assets
