Safety first!

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Lacework is that it provides visibility - when something changes on our side, Lacework instantly knows about it and provides necessary information whether is it safe and we are good to go or something needs to change. I like that information is being present in graphics, it's always better to visualize things rather than just look at plain text.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I feel that the interface could be more user-friendly - as a beginning user of Lacework I found myself to be lost sometimes. It needs to be learnt for some time to be used properly. On the first time, I spent almost an hour on trying to just find my repository.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework is solving our problems with container's security - because of Lacework's scanning we were informed that we need to upgrade some of the docker images that were used.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy integration with cloud providers and responsive support team to help us setup integration
What do you dislike about the product?
Not obvious to setup rule to ignore false positive postures
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It give us ability to be alerted with security postures and warn us for non secure settings

One of the best CNAPP tools out in the market!

What do you like best about the product?
Lacework has been vital in protecting our environment and giving us visibility across all domains. I like how Lacework gives you a quick summary of an alert that was recently fired. If I need to dig deeper, the dashboard with all the 5 W's, Why, When, Who, What, and Where is super beneficial too!
What do you dislike about the product?
Coming up with something which I dislike about Lacework was a bit difficult, but if I had to say one thing, it would be to have more support for Bottlerocket, but I know it is on their roadmap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework is helping with a lot for our cloud environments. To name a few this includes compliance, security scanning, security monitoring, container security, and anomaly detection. Overall it gives us total visibility of our cloud environments.

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and efficient user interface. Powerful and easy to use. It includes all the tools we use regularly. Plus, it provides ways to remediate the issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
The current IaC is not fully integrated, and it installed some soluble bits in places we did not expect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a cloud-native media streaming service, and our business would collapse if bad actors could hack us. We use Lacework to ensure that our production deployments are not susceptible to hackers.

Very good potential but still lots of buggy behaviour. Seems like a beta

What do you like best about the product?
I like the visibility the dashboard gives. Not only for security but for visualising clusters
What do you dislike about the product?
I have a bug where the iac bot is blocking PRs. This has been acknowledged but there seem to be constant bugs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security intrusion detection on Prem and in the cloud

Fantastic tool for small security teams.

What do you like best about the product?
Lacework Polygraph is a robust tool capable of learning our system and detecting/alerting on anomalies. Instead of having to develop rules based on our system's unique structure, we've relied on Lacework's ML capabilities and established a baseline for our system. Lacework has also helped us track our compliance to meet ISO and SOC requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacework's user interface is tedious to navigate. Users cannot open new pages for each issue and are given an overlayed tab instead. Moreover, Lacework is a complicated tool that requires time to learn, yet Lacework Academy is not kept up to date and often offers guides for aspects of the GUI which have long since been changed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework has provided our team with a complete view of our cloud infrastructure while enabling our team to respond to actual issues instead of sorting through alerts.

Lacework review

  • May 10, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Lacework is in multiple cloud environments and performs better than cloud-native security products. I also like the direction that Lacework is building solutions for. The initiative to add Code Security is a major win for customers
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI should have an engineer or SOC analyst view, one that has fewer graphs and provide the ability to pivot on data easily. The UI should also have an expert mode to allow experienced threat hunters to find assets and threats easily. Also, have the ability to export to industry-standard formats
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to have visibility across our cloud environments and understand our risk. The move to shift left while not burdening the developers with yet another tool is a major win. Consolidation of tools will help to reduce time to resolution for security events!

Growing the product with a first class post-sales team

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Lacework is their support team that continues working with me and my team. The core team has been the same; any attrition was replaced with talent equal to or better than the previous team member. They do this all while introducing new features and full product lines; they take my feedback seriously and alert me when my requests have been put into the product. The UI is simple, so you can always find your data; similar products are too data science driven for the UI, and finding the data I want on those platforms is challenging.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some views in the UI that group data for searching within multiple fields; some views/cards have a fixed set of values you can add or remove from the table; this is not a complete list of fields, and I have to revert to the raw data to search and display the additional fields. The good thing about lacework is that the deficiency can be overcome by using your own searches outside the Lacework-provided views/cards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Presenting the security posture of complex cloud platforms in an easily usable format centered around compliance standards removing the need to have a cloud security expert dedicated to our monitoring and alerting tasking. We have evolved the use of lacework over the past 3 years from only CSPM now adding Agents to hosts, vulnerability reporting, k8s and much more. We have integrated the Lacework data into daily operations of our Security Operations Team.

What do you like best about the product?
Getting an overview of security posture of our cloud infrastructure is great, lots of checks and all aggregated in one location/platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amount of information can be overwhelming sometimes. Some of the menus or options can be hard to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping us improve our security posture in AWS and improving our FedRamp compliance requirements.
