What do you like best about the product?
Matterport can be used to capture nearly all spaces for a vast range of industries; I have used the system to capture historic spaces and areas of these spaces are that are closed to the public. It's a fantastic digital record of these spaces that future generations can use.

Matterport's fast capture time allows us to scan a large space within a day, and the cloud processing is impressive for data registration, the resulting 3D model and high quality 360 imagery is the gold standard for virtual tours.
What do you dislike about the product?
Matterport is an awesome capture system; it is accurate (to a degree) fast and provides stunning results. However, there are limitations to the capture process, issues which are then compounded by slow customer service. Whilst it is to be appreciated that stitching two models exists as an option, it should happen faster than the current turnaround and not have limitations of a certain number of scans/models. Matterport loves to show the amazing spaces that it's users capture throughout the world, but as Matterport grows so do people's ambitions to capture larger and better spaces that should be shown as one model. The cloud processing can't always handle these larger spaces and the stitching team will sometimes refuse to help altogher on this, no matter the space or client, which is a shame. Perhaps they should offer an optional paid service for a nominal fee for these larger projects, so that matterport can really move to the next level.

Another issue is the limitations of what can be done in post-production. Whilst there have been a few nice additions in recent months (long overdue trimming tool, manual blurring) Matterports competitors - who offer less in many respects, also offer much more customization such as custom hotspots, menus, audio, custom branding etc. Matterport *should* offer this in-house without having to use a third-party service like Treedis or Captur3D.

Matterport within the construction and design industry is also a great tool. However, caution should be applied, especially by sales teams who do not fully understand the requirements of surveying a space for design purposes (Point clouds and Revit). Currently, the Pro 2 camera is not an accurate tool for scanning spaces for this purpose. It is a great jumping-off point and can offer a registered point cloud in less than 24 hours, but especially with larger spaces, issues will always arise and opens users to trouble with their clients when they don't fully understand what is being offered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We capture spaces for a range of industries, including commercial real estate, construction, heritage sector and events spaces. Matterport is a fantastic tool in every instance for this as it brings people into a space without the need to visit. As an example for a recent schedule of conditions survey we created, a project manager was able to use the digital measurement tool to get a ceiling height without having to go back to visit the space physically.

We recently captured the largest Catholic Church in the United Kingdom, providing a complete digital copy of the space that can soon be enjoyed by millions of people round the world who may not always be able to visit physically. It has also proved useful to the Cathedral's conservation team who are using it to check areas and record them at this moment in time
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into the business model and see if it is sustainable for you. Can you get enough clients to cover the costs of doing business? Can you do something different to others in your area?

What do you like best about the product?
MatterPort is extremely easy to use. We use it to shoot all of our own in house virtual tours with 360 cameras. We have the ability to update virtual tours during renovations to make sure that the marketing is current, which potential renters appreciate.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly haven't found anything to dislike about MatterPort. They always seem to be adding new features that I didn't even know I wanted. If something comes up, I'll update this review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We began using MatterPort before the pandemic, but it has really shined with helping to rent units virtually during the lockdown. Customers can use the MatterPort tours to take measurements, and they can move around the space virtual to help them envision living in our units.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it. MatterPort is very user-friendly, extremely easy to use, and continues to add features. If you run into any issue, Matterport's support team is quick to respond and very helpful.

Very fun for clients

What do you like best about the product?
Once uploaded and online, the navigation is intuitive and excellent for previewing real estate.
What do you dislike about the product?
For multi-floor scans, it would be better to have a plan view navigation, similar to google maps street view having a little key map to also navigate where you are.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Matterport also helped sell real estate during lockdown and various risk management as we navigate the pandemic. Potential clients could preview the various buildings in our portfolio with efficiency, and then use it to filter down the number of actual in-person tour locations.

Versatile and powerful. There's a reason it's so expensive.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Matterport is the quality and versatility of your 360 images. We use them in our advertising, marketing and sales and the videos are really impressive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Of course Matterport is very expensive. This is not a surprise. It might be nice if they would offer a few more options for people or companies just getting started out. The cost of the equipment is one thing... the cost of hosting is another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating amazing visuals for our clients that help sell and promote their businesses. The benefits we have realized include grabbing the attention of our audience and really wowing them.

Matterport - the best 360/3D model solution on the market

What do you like best about the product?
Fully "walkable" floor plan, with measurement tools, making virtual home inspections for adjusting or virtual walkthroughs for real estate easier than ever before.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a good deal of time (initially) to fully capture an entire dwelling or building. Often these homes are in states of disrepair and without power and modding the Matterport camera with your own lighting will be necessary in order to capture the space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating fully "walkable" floor plans for use in scoping, measuring, and creating an estimate, all of which can be shared to anyone with al ink to the space. It makes allowing someone outside of your organization to view the interior of a property extremely easy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are an insurance adjuster, appraiser, Umpire or real estate agent Matterport will change how you handle your claims or display your properties. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Customer Service is TERRIBLE!

What do you like best about the product?
Camera works fine and the images are good.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have called the customer several times to get the account switched to my associate's credit card and the people fielding calls are CLUELESS. English is clearly not their first language and they have trouble understanding how to do anything. Despite 3 phone calls, my credit card is still being charged for the service!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
360 VT for my clients.

What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to navigate and how realistic all the 3D tours are
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much to dislike. If anything, I wish I could NOT see the camera sometimes - even though it doesn't really matter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualizing real estate in 3D

Details We Didn't Even Know We Needed!

  • August 26, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Working for an architectural/engineering company, it has been fantastic to send just one person out to a job site to scan, then have everyone else on the team be able to visit the site virtually. No longer do we need to only rely on outdated record drawings and partial models the client *might* have, but now we can scan the entire site and get all the information, including details we might not realize we need at the beginning!
What do you dislike about the product?
The Pro2 camera uses infrared light, so sunlight confuses it. Because of this, the Pro2 camera can only be used indoors, but we're looking into a lidar camera to be able to scan outdoors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Throughout the lifespan of a project, anyone can virtually visit a site to verify details. In past jobs, we'd send a team out to a job site to take hand measurements, hundreds of pictures, and sketch up what the existing conditions are. Then, back in the office, all that data would typically be handed off to someone else, who didn't know the job site, to recreate in a CAD program. Now, we can download the Matterpak and import the point cloud into cad, to get a truly digital twin model.

Matterport Review

  • August 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The concept of the software is really impressive. We have used Matterport to market many homes listings and people are always impressed with the software and the design.
What do you dislike about the product?
The plans they offer are extremely limited. I believe they only have 3 options to choose from and the pricing for these does not make any sense. Typically things get cheaper the more you purchase, but Matterport is the exact opposite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Clients can virtually walk through a home without having to step through it. This is very convenient for out-of-state clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The app can be extremely glitchy! There were many occasions where we had to rescan rooms multiple times because the Matterport app was not working properly. You also have to have an iPhone to use the app. It is not compatible with Android which is extremely disappointing. We had to purposefully go out and buy an iPhone in order to use Matterport. I personally don't care for iPhone, I prefer Galaxy phones, so this was very frustrating.
