Lakehouse made simple
What do you like best about the product?
For me, I like the data science and SQL platform best. They are extremely helpful for my job, allowing me to streamline my work and automate it using Jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the platform can be a bit slow to react but I'm not sure if it's the cluster size or something is wrong with Databricks itself. Overall I didn't find many issues with the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm solving automation issues along with ETL work. I'm able to use Databricks with our datalake in the easiest possible way, using different data formats with ease.

The slowly changing dimension features that comes out of the box with the lakehouse

Lake of UI/UX to have a moth user experience
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves a lot of the standard engineering challenges when it comes to ingestion of data, data lineage and access management
High performance with low complexity
What do you like best about the product?
The way that works with the delta format. Providing a lot of possibilities without the necessity to have a dedicated database administrator. It's also nice to talk about their flexibility
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the cluster management is not so well distributed, causing some necessity to restart the cluster. Maybe send some warnings before it gets non workable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems: Increasing data results in almost a logarithmic increase in the cost. The main benefits were regarding the costs and the flexibility that's delta format provide
Amazing product which answers data people's persona
What do you like best about the product?
How a steep learning curve Databricks is, I'm enjoying learning all the time with such great materials and people.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I feel documentation is a bit misleading. E.g. Pandas UDF + ML model combined - the functionality of both is amazing, but actually it's not clear how to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I never understood the motivation of having lakehouse instead of bunch of parquets, plus not sure what happens behind the scenes. Whenever implementing a new product, one must know how and why to do it :)
Rapidly Improving AI Platform With Flexible Tooling
What do you like best about the product?
Scheduled jobs, pre-installed ML environments, abundance of documentation and example use cases. There are a lot of best practices available through the Spark AI conference also.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their Spark install is not always compatible with 3rd party tools (ex: geospatial) causing a delay in some package availability until an extra release. Some gotachs with distributed model training (Horovod).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are training models to forecast weather and have been able to achieve scale without having to do create a custom architecture. We now have experimentation happening 10X faster than before.

Errors are not entirely straightforward sometimes.
Regular Maintenance can sometimes cause downtime or failure, which can be solved with proper scheduling and retry mechanisms.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is higly efficient in executing queries, analyzing data, performing complex table joins if workloads are properly setup across high-performing clusters.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that we can have queries. We have only started to review them properly for each account, but there are limitless opportunities once we start digging.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to access more access to creating queries and investigating several things. Sometimes I get glitches with the account, it freezes and I can't see the information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are finding fraudsters frequently and once we track a trend, we can solve them much easier. The best part is finding out information about a customer's account that we cannot see on the other system we use

I like how granular we can get when running queries and reports for our business purposes

The user interface could be a little sleeker and more intuitive

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes highly recommended for setting up Hadoop kind of cluster and dealing with Big data and Analytics and Machine learning ML flow.
Databricks allows us to pull Canadian Credit file information to verify our Customers.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how Data bricks is layed out. At first it can seem difficult to read, but from computer background i find it a great way to layout the information in an organized fashion.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes Credit Files will pull not pull in the Credit Kyc section and will almost always pull in the Customer information Tab.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are abel to identify Customers as we onboard them onto our business and ensure they are legitimate individuals and mitigating risk.
